Chang Moi, renowned for its  culinary scene and unique ambiance, now finds itself at a pivotal juncture in Chiang Mai's evolution towards a city of culture, innovation, and sustainability. This represents a critical opportunity for urban rejuvenation, the fostering of community bonds, and the revitalisation of the district.

Urban Laab is a proposed two day pop-up event that celebrates the fusion of art, cooking, and sustainability in Chang Moi and the larger argiculutral  landscape of Chiang Mai.

Inspired by avant-garde visionaries Gordon Matta-Clark, Rirkrit Tiravanija, and the Fluxus movement, the  pop event event is envisioned as a launchpad for nurturing creativity, encouraging eco-conscious practices, andhighlighting culinary innovation.

How & When?

Day 1: Art & Cooking Connections

Morning to Afternoon:The programme events for the first day of Urban Laab would begin with an art and community engagement exhibition at Kad Luang In Chang Moi. Collaborations between artists, designers, and chefs will create experiences transforming  the pop-up space(s that highlight locally sourced ingredients and materials.



Evening: Aroumd Sunset attendees are offered the opportunity to sample local snacks that embody the diverse influences on Northern Thai cuisine and payhomage to Chiang Mai's rich agricultural heritage. A special che’s dinner (paid donation) will be prepared for those that want to taste the best from local cutting edge cuisine a partnerning rretaraunt.

fPerformances from local performing artists and musicians will be on display. And for attendees that want something a bit more low-key and local,, a “street food” map will be available by CNX Urban Lab, in order to support small scale neighbourhood businesses.food, stories, culture, drinks, and everything  in between.

Artisanal Food Market: Artisanal food market showcasing a diverse array of local products that mirror Chiang Mai's rich cultural heritage rpoducsts will be avaialable throughout the two day pop-up even with neighborring restarautnyd and venedors

Art & Cooking Workshops: As time permits workshops with participating artists, designers, and chefs will be offered on a range of topics relating to culture, cuisine, and community

Children's Corner: All efforts will be made to make Urban Laab a family (and pet) friendly event. We hope young ones can remain engaged with entertaining and educational activities that celebrate the diversity of art and cooking, as well as sustainable initiatives.
